About Valleyview PAL

PAL stands for

"Partnership Approach to Literacy"

It is a tutoring program that provides one on one assistance for students so they can improve their reading and/or comprehension skills and learn to enjoy reading.

Goals of PAL

To provide a "reading pal" for each student referred to the program
To help students find enjoyment in reading
To help students develop more positive attitudes toward reading
To help students build confidence in their abilities and potential

The PAL Project

Is a preventative research-based literacy project
Reaches young people in their developmental years
Works in partnership with schools and parents to help children enjoy reading
Is built on recognized literacy practices
